Pulse width trigger
D.E.V.I.C.E. is an encyclopedia of terms used by manufacturers of test and measurement equipment. T&M Atlantic created this service to better explain the functionality of instruments it offers, and to highlight the latest developments in the world of measurement equipment. We are using such tools as animation to bring words and pictures to life and to create not just an understanding but also an appreciation for technology that goes into the design of every instrument.

The pulse width is measured on the level specified by a user. The pulse triggering can be both positive and negative:
- positive polarity pulse width is less than the specified value;
- positive polarity pulse width is more than the specified value;
- positive polarity pulse width is equal to the specified value;
- negative polarity pulse width is less than the specified value;
- negative polarity pulse width is more than the specified value;
- negative polarity pulse width is equal to the specified value.
The present trigger type can be used to detect anomalies in the pulse width flow (the width differs from the one required) and also to organize the signal area record beginning from the pulse occurrence of a certain width.
The animated picture below shows specified duration pulse triggering and undefined duration pulse triggering:
