Peak Detect
D.E.V.I.C.E. is an encyclopedia of terms used by manufacturers of test and measurement equipment. T&M Atlantic created this service to better explain the functionality of instruments it offers, and to highlight the latest developments in the world of measurement equipment. We are using such tools as animation to bring words and pictures to life and to create not just an understanding but also an appreciation for technology that goes into the design of every instrument.

Peak Detect is one of the acquisition modes in digital oscilloscope. Peak Detect mode captures the maximum and minimum signal values for each sample. It finds the highest and the lowest record points over many acquisitions. Select Peak Detect Acquisition to avoid signal aliasing.
You can see the example of Peak Detect of Aktakom digital oscilloscope of AOC-5xx2/5xx4 series in the screenshot below. Test signal is formed on the evaluation board of Aktakom AEE-1017: AM square signal (see “AM” paragraph) with pulse burrs: amplitude - up to 2.2 V, burr duration - 100 ns, burr frequency – 1kHz.
