International Pi Day

International Pi Day

Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π.

1988 is the earliest known official celebration of Pi Day. It was organized by Larry Shaw at the San Francisco Exploratorium.

On March 12, 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution recognizing March 14, 2009, as Pi Day. Date March 14 is chosen because of 3/14 in the month/day format.
