Fume extraction
D.E.V.I.C.E. is an encyclopedia of terms used by manufacturers of test and measurement equipment. T&M Atlantic created this service to better explain the functionality of instruments it offers, and to highlight the latest developments in the world of measurement equipment. We are using such tools as animation to bring words and pictures to life and to create not just an understanding but also an appreciation for technology that goes into the design of every instrument.

Soldering activities produce fumes that are dangerous and toxic. The use of lead-containing solder presents the potential for exposure to lead, which can cause neurological toxicity and other health effects. The use of rosin core solder or flux presents the potential for exposure to rosin fume, which can cause irritation and sensitization of the eyes and respiratory tract. All of them can cause serious long term health problems if inhaled for long. Soldering fan incorporates a ball bearing high volume fan to maximize airflow which is directed upwards at the rear of the unit to aid in safe dispersion of fumes.
