Tektronix, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that their WFM8300 Waveform Monitor with 4K support has received the NewBay Media NAB Best of Show Award, presented by TV Technology magazine at the 2015 NAB Show in Las Vegas.
NewBay Media's Best of Show Awards are evaluated by a panel of engineers and industry experts, and are selected based on innovation, feature set, cost efficiency and performance in serving the industry. From a field of more than 140 products nominated for consideration by TV Technology judges, Tektronix WFM8300 was among a select group of products to receive this prestigious award. Winners receive an award for display and are featured in TV Technology, the digital television authority, serving the broadcast, cable, production, post production, business and new media markets.
"Recognition with an award at the NAB Show from NewBay Media's Broadcast & Video Group is a strong vote of confidence and admiration from our leading industry publications," said NewBay Media Broadcast & Video Group Vice President & Group Publisher Eric Trabb.
"We are honored that WFM8300 has received the NAB Best of Show Award from NewBay Media's TV Technology,'" said Charlie Dunn, general manager, Video Product Line, Tektronix. "The WFM8300 waveform monitor is poised to play a key role in helping those involved in the production and distribution of video content make the transition to 4K as seamlessly and efficiently as possible."
With the rapid advance of 4K technology and increasing adoption rates across the industry, companies involved in the production and delivery of 4K content – from camera manufacturers to post-production houses to broadcasters – are investing in new 4K-related equipment. But keeping equipment costs in check is an important consideration, particularly during the ramp-up phase. Tektronix WFM8300 enables 4K support via an easy, field-installable software upgrade, eliminating the need for customers to purchase costly hardware replacements in order to shoot, prepare and deliver 4K programming.
The software upgradeable platform uses a high-performance architecture fully capable of supporting the throughput requirements of 4K content. The outstanding combination of capabilities, features, performance and upgradeability make them ideal for meeting the 4K requirements of equipment manufacturers, post-production houses, broadcasters and other video service providers (VSPs). Customers can continue to purchase the equipment they need for their existing requirements, secure in the knowledge that when the time comes to roll out 4K, they can easily upgrade.
