AKTAKOM ATK-4001 clamp meter is designed for grounding resistance, leakage current measuring as well as for continuity test. This model allows user to take measurements only on one ground wire without using any additional electrodes, also ATK-4001 can be used to test multiple grounds systems without turning them off.
"Absolute measurement error" service allows you to estimate the measurement accuracy considering uncertainty (error) in the absolute value. It's important if you take measurements at the range edge when the error value contributes to the value displayed on the device screen.
To get the value range it'd be enough to enter the estimate of the value under measurement into Value input field and to see the range of possible values taking all of the standardized errors into consideration.
Note: a point is used as a separator of the integer and fractional part.

Leakage current measurement
Before you start measurement make sure there is no external electromagnetic field the following way:
Switch on ATK-4001 and set the rotary switch to “mA”. Pass the clamp meter with closed jaws near the object under measurement. The device readings should be within limits: 0.000...0.001.
Power on the device and set the rotary switch to “mA” or “A”.
Open the clamp meter jaws and grip the wire or grounding electrode that should be measured. No air gap between the clamp meter jaws is allowed.
See the measurement results on the display.
Grounding resistance measurement and continuity test
Open ATK-4001 clamp meter jaws and make sure they are clean and not covered with dust, dirt or any other extraneous substances.
Open and close the clamp meter jaws several times for better contact.
Power on the clamp meter and set the rotary switch to “Ω”.
Note: When you switch on the clamp meter and during auto calibration process it’s forbidden to open the clamp meter and grip any current-carrying conductor!
When ATK-4001 is switched on it makes auto calibration to provide the most precise measurement afterwards. It’s better to wait until this process is finished. During the calibration you will see CAL7, CAL6, ..., CAL2, CAL1 displaying one after another.
Note: if auto calibration process doesn’t stop you should check the contact surface of the jaws and clean them if necessary.
When the device is ready for work you will hear a sound.
Grip the conductor or grounding electrode that should be measured. Open and close the clamp meter jaws several times for better contact. No air gap between the clamp meter jaws is allowed.
See the measurement results on the display.
If the grounding circuit has current over 3A or voltage over 30V you will see “NOISE” symbol on the display. Noises availability reduces the measurement precision.
When you open ATK-4001 jaws you will see symbol on the display and word “OPEN”.
For continuity testing set the rotary switch to “”. You will hear a sound if the circuit resistance is less than 40Ω. In this mode using “FUNC” button you may select the lower and upper limits of resistance acceptable value
How can I activate data logging function of AKTAKOM ATK-4001 clamp meter?
ATK-4001 will start data logging if the REC button is pressed, and a symbol of REC will be shown in LCD. Data will be recorded at the specified sampling interval.
Data logging will be stopped if the memory is full, or the unit detects the condition of low battery, or the REC button is pressed again.
How can I read the data stored in the memory of AKTAKOM ATK-4001 clamp meter?
This function allows users to read the stored data if no PC is available. Therefore:
Press FUNC button until “NO” symbol is shown on the LCD. The current record number is shown in the upper line of the LCD. And the data is shown in the lower line.
Press ▲ or ▼ button to read the next/previous data,
If user holds ▲ or ▼ button longer, the record number will be incremented/decremented faster . The record number will roll over when the last/first record is reached.
How can I set the sampling interval when operating AKTAKOM ATK-4001 clamp meter?
Press FUNC button until “SEC” symbol is displayed in the upper line of the LCD.
ATK-4001 clamp meter shows the current sampling interval in seconds.
Press ▲ or ▼ button to increment/decrement the value by 1 second. As user holds the button longer, the speed of incrementing/decrementing will become faster. The value can be incremented/decremented from 0 to 255 / 255 to 0 seconds. Value will roll over when the value of maximum 255/minimum 0 seconds is reached.
Press FUNC button several times until the upper line of the LCD displays no symbols.
How can I cancel auto switch off function when operating AKTAKOM ATK-4001 clamp meter?
When you switch on ATK-4001 you will see “AP” sign on the display. That means the clamp meter will be switched off in approximately 4…6 minutes. To cancel this function you need to keep FUNC button pressed and then power off the device. “AP” will disappear from the display.
