Highlight themes

At this year’s event, productronica will be placing particular emphasis on selected subject areas, which will be particularly dealt with and discussed not just in the exhibition area but in the forums as well.

The focus of the second day of the trade fair, Wednesday, November 16, 2011 will be on the highlight theme “Battery/energy-storage manufacturing”, in the innovation forum in Hall B2. Numerous lectures will put the spotlight on facts and figures about markets, technologies and strategies. This will include a talk by Dr. Axel Thielmann from the Fraunhofer Institute for System and Innovation Research (ISI) on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 between 10.25 a.m. and 10.50 a.m. on “Lithium-ion battery technology roadmap for electrical mobility – trends, markets, policies”.

Also on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, the productronica Forum in Hall A1 will be focusing on “Efficient production management”. This will include a lecture by Prof. Martin Wohlschläger of the Technical University of Dresden from 10.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. on "A one-size-fits-all MES?" Stefan Erath of SALT Solutions will be talking about “Experiences with the introduction of lean production” from 11.30 a.m. to 12.00 a.m.

The third day of the trade fair, Thursday, November 17, 2011 will witness numerous lectures in the innovation forum on the decidedly cutting-edge highlight theme of “Organic and printed electronics”. This will include a closer look by Martin Schöppler, FUJIFILM Dimatix, at the “Status and future of the coating of digital materials with inkjet” from 10.15 a.m. - 10.40 a.m. There will be a lecture by Dr. Stephan Kirchmeyer, Heraeus Precious Metals, from 11.30 a.m. - 11.55 a.m. on the subject of “Conductive polymers – components of innovative electronics”.

The productronica forum on November 17, 2011 will be entirely devoted to the highlight theme of "Electronic Manufacturing Services". This will include Bernd Enser of Sanmina-SCI Germany explaining “Traceability in Electronics Manufacturing” from 2.30 p.m. - 3 p.m. This will be followed, from 3 p.m. - 3.30 p.m. by Ulrich Niklas of Zollner Electronics, who will be giving a lecture on the “Shelf life of components and electronic modules”.

Special show

The special show “Battery manufacturing and power electronics” will be taking place in Hall B2 for the entire duration of the trade fair. It will cover all process steps from the coating of the electrode material to the complete module. Leading companies such as Digatron Industrie-Elektronik, ERSA, F&K Delvotec, IBG Automation, KUKA Roboter, KMS Automation, M+W Group, Reis Robotics, Siemens and Viscom AG will be showcasing machines, processes and automation technology together with intermediate and end products. A particular highlight is the “virtual factory” by RWTH Aachen. This is where visitors, assisted by experts, have the opportunity to put together a battery factory interactively and devise cost scenarios. The participating companies in the innovation forum will accompany this with the latest on markets, technologies and strategies covering every facet of battery production.

PCB Community Area

At this year’s event, productronica will also be dedicating the whole of Hall B1 to the PCB sector. The new PCB Community Area delivers on the industry's desire for a strong, innovative platform for providing sustained support for the positive developments in the European PCB market. The PCB market place with four networking areas provides the central communication rendezvous in the hall. For example, on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 11 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. the Speaker’s Corner on the PCB market place will be hosting the CEO PCB panel. Taking part in the panel discussion will be: Harald Ahnert, Atotech Deutschland, Dr. Udo Bechtloff, KSG Leiterplatten, Thomas Kunz, Schmoll Maschinen, Volker Pape, Viscom, Hannes Stahr, AT&S, Michael Velmeden, cms electronics and Werner Widmann, Multek Europe.

On Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 10.30 a.m. - 11.00 a.m., Roland Schönholz, Würth Elektronik Schopfheim, will be talking on the PCB market place about “Traceability using embedded RFIDs – traceability via PCB”. The PCB Community Area concept is rounded off by workshops organised by the European Institute for Printed Circuits (EIPC). On Wednesday, November 16, 2011 and Thursday, November 17, 2011 workshops will be taking place in room B21 (above Hall B2) on subjects including “Quality improvement and cost reduction through new solder mask systems”.

The award ceremony will be at 11 a.m. The “Electronics Day Awards” for sustainable electronics manufacturing will also be presented on Thursday, November 17, at 5 p.m.

Clean room action area

A network of five companies will be demonstrating what the entire “Working in clean conditions” process chain looks like in Hall B2, stand 381. A clean room will be put together twice a day for the entire duration of the trade fair. At the end of the build process – following professional cleaning and the installation of a machine – clean production could actually commence in this clean room.

Career

productronica also gets to grips with the important topic of new talent. On Friday, November 18, 2011, the ZVEI will be staging the new talent day in the productronica forum in Hall A1.
