Amplitude-frequency characteristics (AFC)

Amplitude-frequency characteristics (AFC)

Dependence of the amplitude of the signal at the output of the device on the frequency of the input sinusoidal signal of constant amplitude when this device operates in stationary mode.

For clarity, the frequency response is often depicted in the form of a graph on which the frequency is plotted on a horizontal scale (most often on a logarithmic scale), and the amplitude values (often in dB) of the output signal are plotted on the vertical axis.

The frequency response is used to determine various device parameters (for example, the frequency bandwidth of electronic amplifiers, filters and loudspeakers, the stability of automatic control systems). Often the frequency response is simply called the frequency response.
