There is a four-wire (4-wire) connection scheme used. This connection method provides accurate voltage supply preset in the load. This leads to the compensation of the wire resistance connecting the power supply and the load that is especially important in the industrial application of the power supply.

There is a single channel, output regulated voltage of 0…120 V, output current of 0…3 A.

AKTAKOM APS-3103L programmable DC power supply differs from other similar power supplies by wide capabilities of local and remote control through AKTAKOM Power Manager software.

APS-3103L programmable power supply is capable of operating in several modes:

Manual control mode. Including the use of 4 memory cells to store preset voltage and current.

Remote control mode to operate AKTAKOM APS-3103L programmable DC power supply by computer via USB interface through AKTAKOM Power Manager Software. Moreover the USB interface has full galvanic isolation between the power supply and the computer.

Remote control mode to operate AKTAKOM APS-3103L DC power supply by computer using an USB cable or LAN cable (ethernet).

Remote control mode to operate AKTAKOM APS-3103L programmable power supply throught the remote access to the computer USB-connected to APS-3103L. AKTAKOM Power Manager Software provides the operation in server-client mode even for power supplies without built-in LAN interface. Meanwhile the power supply is physically connected to computer-server via USB interface and the data is available for reading from any computer of the network.

AKTAKOM Power Manager Software (APM) provides a wide range of control capabilities of output voltage and stabilization current both in manual and functional modes. Functional control is a very powerful tool of APM software which allows you not only to control your power supply automatically by computer but also to program its off-line operation mode by prespecified algorithm. Functional control mode in AKTAKOM Power Manager Software allows automatically controlling the output parameters (voltage and current) of the power supply according to the principle specified with the help of graphics and tabular editors. In a convenient graphics editor user may specify 10 standard forms of parameters (including sine, square, triangle, saw, flash, pulse, 2 types of exponents, 2 types of S-curves), as well as, almost any arbitrary form which can be described formulary. The program operation in equipment operation compatibility mode is also available.

The software system for AKTAKOM APS-3103L DC power supply includes a software development kit (SDK) This SDK contains the device driver with all necessary functions for the device operation and represents dynamic-link library (DLL) Windows followed with the library header file in the C programming language, with LabWindows function tree and the tool library for LabVIEW which fully repeats it. Additionally (in contrast to APS-3xxxLx_SDK_Base Software Development Kit) it contains the examples of programming in the following development environment: Borland C++ Builder, MS Visual C++, NI LabWindows/CVI and NI LabVIEW.

Power supply to load four-wire connection method

The sampling terminals are used under the following conditions: if the load has a distance from the power supply, the sampling terminals may be used to compensate for the inherent when using voltage drop a longer power line.

    AKTAKOM Power Manager (APM) Software offers wide opportunities for controlling the output voltage and stabilization current both in arbitrary (manual) and in functional modes. Functional control is a powerful APM software tool which allows you not only to automatically control the power supply via your computer but also to program it for the off-line mode operation in accordance with the predetermined algorithm. Functional control mode in APM software allows you to automatically control the output parameters (voltage or current) of the power supply according to the law set by the graphical and tabular editors.     3. Please note! When you run AKTAKOM Power Manager Software for the first time it will require an access key. This key can be received (copied) at www.tmatlantic.com after the product registration. The key can be entered later, see Settings/Pass key menu.

    How can I work in the current stabilization mode?

    1. If OUTPUT indicator is red than press LOAD button. In that case OUTPUT indicator should go out and the current indicator will display the set current value.
    2. By using VOLTAGE adjustment rotary switch set the required output voltage (at the same time nothing should be connected to the output terminals «+» and «-»).
    3. By using CURRENT rotary switch set the maximum allowable current value (current limit value) for your load. If in the operating mode the load resistance change will cause the excess of the specified current limit, the power supply will automatically switch to the current stabilization mode and the output voltage will proportionally fall.
    4. Connect the load to the power supply and press LOAD button. OUTPUT indicator should become red.
    5. Before you disconnect the load press LOAD button. OUTPUT indicator will go out.
    6. Before switching off the power supply, disconnect the load.

    What instruction should I follow to work in the voltage stabilization mode?

    3. By using CURRENT rotary switch set the maximum allowable current value (current limit value) for your load.

    5. Before you disconnect the load press LOAD button. OUTPUT indicator will go out.
    6. Before switching off the power supply, disconnect the load.

    Do AKTAKOM power supplies have short circuit protection?

    Yes they have.
    Almost all modern power supplies have two operation modes: voltage stabilization mode and current stabilization mode. In case of short circuit the power supply automatically switches from the output voltage stabilization mode to the output current stabilization mode, and the output voltage starts proportionally dropping. At the same time the current in the load connected to the power supply will be limited with the value set with the screwdriver slot used to adjust the output current value on the front panel of the power supply. For the best protection it is recommended to set a low current value. In case of short circuit the current in the connected load will be limited with the value set on the power supply.

    How to connect to the power supply via web-interface?

    There is no web-interface remote control feature for this power supply. To control the power supply remotely use the software provided in the standard accessory kit for the device.

    May I use AKTAKOM power supplies to charge accumulators?

    AKTAKOM power supplies can’t be used for accumulator charging since it may cause the accumulator breakage (recharge, electrolyte boiling, extra pressure of the internal gas which will lead to the accumulator explosion). Accumulators should be charged with the current source which controls the accumulator voltage and regulates the charging current accordingly. When the required accumulator voltage is achieved such type of source simply stops the charging process, its name is a charging device.

    How to see a device serial number in AKTAKOM Power Manager software?

    The program automatically reads the serial numbers of all devices found. To detect the device open Settings window, go to Connection and Presets tab, select the right device type you need in the list of models and click “Detect”:

    In the list of detected devices you will see all names and serial numbers of the devices found.

    After you select one of the detected devices and connect it to the program its serial number will be displayed in the program main window title.
